Mr. Craton is available for private instruction in violin and viola by appointment only. He is happy to work with students from beginner to advanced levels. Sessions are currently $25 for a half hour or $45 for an hour.
Having himself been taught in the strict classical tradition, Mr. Craton believes in keeping alive the musical traditions of the past while building upon these foundations with newer technical developments that can assist the modern-day performer. Mr. Craton studied violin under the late concert violinist Robert Louis Barron (himself a student of Max Fischel and Carl Flesch) and also under Mr. John Maltese (a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and a 1996 Grammy Award winner).

For beginners Mr. Craton generally employs the Doflein method supplemented with material from the methods of other notable pedagogues, as well as solos suitable for the technical level of each student.
